North West Golf Coast is home to twelve of the Finest Coastal Courses in the World and has a rich history of hosting the world’s most prestigious golfing events, including The Open Championship, The Ryder Cup and The Walker Cup as well as numerous other professional and amateur championships. Although the three Open venues, Royal Lytham & St Annes, Royal Birkdale and Royal Liverpool, are the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the North West Golf Coast, all of our other courses are not to be overlooked. Hillside, Formby, Southport & Ainsdale and West Lancashire are all included in the ‘Top 100 Courses of the UK & Ireland’.

Delamere Forest and Wallasey are both ranked in the Top 100 in England. Hesketh. The Old Course at Formby Hall has played host to the European Seniors Tour, Challenge Tour and Europro Tour. Caldy has hosted numerous Ladies European Tour Events as well as co-hosting the Senior British Open Championship in 1981. Ormskirk is a former host of Open Championship regional qualifying. Formby Ladies Golf Club, founded in 1896, is a unique ladies only members club, offering a truly testing links course. The course is set amongst coastal sand dunes and towering pines, adjacent to Formby Golf Club, with tight fairways, heathery rough and well protected greens. Founded in 1901, St Annes Old Links is one of the fine championship links of England’s north west coast and hosted the Local Final Qualifying for The Open in July 2012.
